I was not at all interested in reading graphic novels before I went to Japan for the student exchange program. There I tried reading manga and it was ok. But still it was not my thing. After coming back to Turkey, I took a course on "the Art of Graphic Novel" and finally it was my chance to appreciate this genre as a distinct form of visual art.
When reading 1602, since it had an essence of science fiction, I found myself in the many worlds of Ursula LeGuin, who is one of my all time favorite artists. After I`m done with the book, while doing my research about Gaiman, I found out that he was influenced by her and many other writers of science fiction. I`m only happy about sailing back to my imaginative universe.
You can guess who I will read next, right?
I have LeGuin`s "Lavinia" in my library waiting for my attention :)
